When a C64 powers on to a black screen, you could spend days probing chips trying to find what’s dead. Or you plug in a dead test cartridge and it flashes a code at you.

Five flashes. That’s RAM. Specific RAM. You look it up, you order the chip, you wait a week, you replace it.

This is the tool I wish I’d known about the first time I cracked open a board.
